todays setup

my fume hood, with a reaction set up. there’s a lot going on here so please dm for more detail but there’s a 1000mL 3-neck flask. one port is fitted with a hose adapter that is running to my schlenk line (glass piece with ports that give me access to the vacuum pump and argon gas). here it is being used to pump argon into my system because it is very air sensitive. the second neck is fitted with a glass stopper. the third neck is fitted with another hose adapter but this hose is running to a vacuum trap I’ve rigged to trap and quench HCl gas that’s being formed during this reaction. There is solid NaOH and sand in the bottom of the vacuum trap and hopefully there’s not just HCl gas being vented out lol. The flask is filled with a white solid slurried in benzene

unpopular opinion but I LOVE my chilly walks to campus especially when it saves me ~$500 a year in parking passes

me, bundled up in a hat, scarf, and coat after my walk from my car to campus. The hat is cream colored and has a handmade ink-stamp of a tooth patched on. The scarf is blue, red, black and grey stripes and is very soft. The coat is a thick, brown, tan, yellow, and blue flannel pattern with snaps on the way down and on the front chest pockets. I look exhausted and my nose is red from cold, but I am content.
