No, but they could in themselves shave off some temperature increase, and their share of the benefits from that could outweigh their costs. Both because the benefits are greater than the costs and because they’re not evenly distributed across the world.

My point (given my superficial understanding of Chinese culture) is that they (ought to) see the long game. And if so, the domestic benefits from reducing own emissions is worthwhile, given their size.
