Spent some time this week helping a friend bottle her homemade wine, and I got to spend some time with her beautiful chickens! I was "paid" in wine and fresh eggs. I will forever think of @isobelcarr.com when I hang out with chickens. Sadly, I am not allowed to keep them where we live, or I would.

Testing out a new-to/me recipe for quick buns using enriched dough They only have to prove once, and the recipe makes good use of my stand mixer. Hoping they taste as good as they look! Yes, I’m saying I have beautiful buns.

First prototype finished! She’s a little small; I’m going to adjust to get to at least street taco size.

I have a couple of patterns, I have yarn in colors that should work, and I have plastic eyes. (I used to make a lot of stuffed animals for the grandbug when he was little). I will make tacos!

New-to-us Oaxacan restaurant is a hit!
A favorite! I played Eleanor in the stage version when I was 38. We had an excellent actor as Geoffrey (the role nobody wanted) and he stole every scene he was in. Brilliantly. I would have loved to play the role again at 50 or so. Here he's upstaging me and John at first dress on an unfinished set.

Three hours at the brewpub this afternoon. Saw some friends, had great conversations, chose yarn for a baby blanket (one of the staff is expecting), sold a copy of our book, talked books & made recommendations, drank some beer (obvs) and brought home a cheesesteak for dinner. WIN.

Today Juli thanks Yesterday Jule for baking tea cakes. A toasted tea cake with butter, a mug of tea, a blanket and a sleepy cat makes a lovely morning moment as I watch the sun burn off the fog after two days of clouds and rain.

One of the things I miss most about England is a toasted tea cake, a yeasted sweet bun lightly spiced and crammed with dried fruit, split in half, toasted and buttered. So when the baking bug got to me today, that's what I made. Between breakfast and afternoon tea, they won't last long.

We got the wild mushroom, garlic and prosciutto pizza. it has a crème fraîche base and strachiatella on top. It is SO GOOD.

It's a grey, damp day here. Not actually raining, but the air is so heavy with mist that it's dripping. Cats are grumpy, I am unmotivated. Might just be a cozy #crochet day; I'm a full week behind on this crochet-along and have four other blankets to make for Feb/March/April babies. #WIPWednesday

We went out for lunch earlier, using a gift card for my favorite wine bar that @redrobinreader.bsky.social bought me a few years ago. I was saving it in hopes that she would be able to join us, since it was one of her favorite places. It felt a little like she was there.

Food truck time at kne of our brewpubs. Roasted chicken, bacon and ranch sandwich with arugula and tomato on focaccia. And a chocolate cherry scone!

I updated our banner! The neighbors will not be happy. But since the guy across the street flies a thin blue line flag and is hanging Xmas lights on Nov 8, pissing him off is a bonus.

We took one for the team. Thanksgiving ice cream was interesting, but not terrific. Cranberry-orange, rolls and butter and squash were okay.
Stuffing and cranberry was weird, and pumpkin tiramisu was too heavily coffee and cinnamon for our taste.
