Worse: reddit. Fanfiction has a built in awareness that the writer is producing something that is not in canon, the illiterate redditor thinks their "interpretation" that directly contradicts canon is somehow valid in debates

The highlights for me were the white feminism character that exists to act out every bullet point about how white women are uniquely oppressive Bad Allies and the fact that someone as nakedly exultant in their academic status as Kuang wrote a book where history turns on the heroism of grad students
