It's actually not difficult to process at all. We've been socialized to accept scenes of unimaginable destruction, both by the entertainment industry and the corporate news media. What people can't process is that it's happening to "us," not that this is possible.

And I've seen estimates that the damages of these fires alone exceed 50 times that, showing yet again that a small sliver of people get their pockets padded at the expense of the rest of us, and the planet.

I’m worried they’re going to kill him because his trial may reveal the virtue of his motives on a wider scale. It will become a mainstream conversation on how capitalism murders poor people. It will be the most honest — and therefore the most dangerous — thing on US TV.

I gotta say, I'm real thankful for my echo chamber, lol. Having sympathy for the UHC CEO is truly baffling to me. It reeks of privilege. And I'm glad I've had to go out of my way in other comment sections to see it.

Non-basketball thing: I finished the book "Into The Wild" today.
I know it's been out forever, but I had never read it. I knew most of the story and even saw the movie, but that book is going to stick with me for a while. Highly recommended if you haven't read it yet.
