I want to reiterate the “mountain of salt” comment here. No idea if this is for real, policy from the top, just someone’s opinion. But it’s kind of intriguing.

Your children are in more danger near a pastor or a conservative politician.

The pony is irrelevant to what they voted for. They voted FOR THESE POLICIES.

They voted for this. They fucking voted for every fucking INCH of this.

Fuck them. Let them suffer.

Ditto for the mortgages, the national debt (which they always confuse with consumer debt), and the rich farmers. However ridiculous and nonsensical they were, Trump made those associations very, VERY clear.

EVERY person who voted "for the ponies" did so with the understanding (mistaken as it was) that the ponies would be a result of poking immigrants with hot pokers. They knew that. They understood what the policy was. They knew what would happen before they could expect their fucking ponies.

No matter, though. Maybe we can't get MAGA to understand object permanence, but we have everything we need to understand their votes.

Their minds are still set to "ponies". They voted for an outcome, dammit, and they didn't get that outcome!

They are unwilling or maybe even unable to pry their eyes off their desired outcomes long enough to consider them in the context of the associated policies.

I don't think we can fix that.

They feel like they're morally in the clear because, well, they voted for the PONIES, you see. Trump didn't give them ponies; they were duped! It's not their fault that all this BAD shit is happening! They didn't vote for that!

You and I look at it, and we say, "No, dumbfuck, you DID vote for this. You were sending me mocking text messages on voting day about how awesome it would be when you could feed rocky road ice cream to your brand new pony."

They wanted the immigrant-torture ponies. They got the immigrant torture.

Now they're saying they "didn't vote for this" because they're facing the ACTUAL consequences of Trump's policies, not the crazy shit he said would make it happen.

The consequences we predicted. The consequences we WARNED them about. The consequences they MOCKED US for predicting.

The MAGA crowd wanted the obviously fucking impossible consequences, even as everybody with, y'know, COMMON SENSE told them those consequences were completely divorced from reality.

They then mocked us when we said that the REAL consequences of his policies would be MUCH worse.

"BY OPENING UP MORE OIL DRILLING, AMERICANS WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO GET ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM DIRECTLY FROM THEIR FAUCETS!"

"I'M GONNA START A TRADE WAR, AND IT'S GONNA MAKE FARMERS RICH BEYOND THEIR WILDEST DREAMS!"

"I'M GONNA MAKE LIFE SO MISERABLE FOR QUEERS THAT IT'LL MAKE MORTGAGES CHEAPER!"

"I'M GONNA TORTURE IMMIGRANTS WITH HOT POKERS, AND IT'S GONNA BE SO GREAT THAT EVERYBODY WILL GET A PONY!"

The core truth, best I can tell, is that Trump is a non sequitur machine nonpareil.

But really, Trump has been incredibly up-front on matters of policy. He said he knew nothing about Project 2025, sure, but he had his "Agenda 47" website full of VIDEOS of him regurgitating chunks of Project 2025, nearly word-for-word.

His policies were VERY clearly stated, and he's stuck to them.

It's easy to say that Trump never tells the truth because so much of the shit that comes out of his mouth is patently false.
