#introductions hi all! I'm Sam, DevRel, dabbling in PM, on ChromeOS.

You may know me from my front-end dev work from like a decade ago. I still dev, but less energy goes to it publicly now.

I also #cook a lot and do a bunch of hobby #photography.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

I've got two more #photography albums for y'all!

#montreal from earlier this year

Then, despite what I said, I did decide to put my #philadelphia test shots online:

With that, all my 2024 images are online!

Ran another playtest of my game system I've been making tonight and I've hit a milestone: the only changes that came out tonight were balance tweaks. That means the rules are mostly settled now! It also means I've got a pretty good handle on how everything works together and am in the final 20% 😜

I'm getting a lot of joy this break going through my #photography library and finally editing and posting my pics. Here's one more, with a couple of neat ones which are the exact composition, 14 years apart!

Back in October I visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum for the first time. I posted my thoughts then (snugug.com/musings/yom-...) and finally managed to get the pictures I took edited and published.

I hope they help you more deeply understand what I wrote.

Anyone using Sublime Text 4? I can't seem to get code formatting (prettier/eslint) to work the same way it does in VSCode, and Markdown editing doesn't feel as good (e.g. doesn’t continue adding bullets if I'm in a list).

Anyone have thoughts?

New album just dropped: #photography from my recent trip to #London!

Annoyingly, best viewed in Chrome on a newer MacBook Pro as that's the only combo I've seen that'll actually render high dynamic range images.

Bought a refurb Pixelbook from work and put Linux on it; this may be my new favorite productivity device. About 100g more than my iPad with the keyboard case, thinner than it, plenty of power for dev and word processing on the go, and just an absolutely stellar industrial design. And super cheap!

Got a #linux (Pop!_OS specifically) question: how can I swap the alt and ctrl keys _only_? Gnome Tweaks can do this but also messes with the Win key at the same time, which I don't want (breaks keyboard mapping for my launcher key)

release the failure cut
There's something I need people to understand.

The studio that made this released some numbers. They had to produce 85 minutes of footage to find 15 usable seconds for this ad.

The machine that creates moving images out of nothing has a failure rate of 340:1 and the best 15 seconds... is this.
