Hey folks in the Jersey City/NYC area! I’m a professional GM who likes to run West March Style and intricate plot campaigns. DND, Cyberpunk, 7th Sea (which I wrote for!!) amongst others!

Every day I advocate strongly for positive nihilism in a world that increasingly wants negative nihilism

Feed is one of those novels that I will go back to more than others. The tone and setting are wonderfully well thought out.

And for the audiophiles, it’s some of the best narration I’ve heard.
Anyway, it's FEED's birthday, and it would mean a lot to me if you would pick it up for a read, either from your shelf, your local library, or by purchasing a copy. Ebook is here: www.amazon.com/Feed-Newsfle...

UPDATE: ICE is wildly unconcerned about where this man is and no one will tell me, his registered attorney. The universal answer so far is "let's wait and see where he ends up." This is deeply off.

We would have more rights at this point if UPS had lost a pair of shoes I'd just bought from Zappos
My detained client was scheduled for a bond hearing this AM in a MA immigration court. He wasn't brought in, and he and his case have disappeared.

I then received this notice of activity on a nonexistent docket in which his name was changed to "N/A"

It's all happening a lot faster than I expected

You don’t like it? Fine, more for us.
nobody likes us
we don't care

(because it says more about them)
I'm going to say this loud so the haters can hear me:

The only people I know who are afraid to come into Philly are people who don't go into Philly.

The only people I know who are afraid of cities are people who don't go into cities.

Ignorance - especially willful ignorance - breeds fear.

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

For the record, do I think a one-day boycott is going to make much of an economic impact? No. Do I think that a sort of "Baby's First Boycott," performative though it is, might be useful to make some folks aware of the impact of their economic power, and how it might be wielded politically? Maybe.

here’s my take as a linguist specializing in interpreting indirect language use: nazi symbols and gestures are a declaration of intent to commit violence and can therefore reasonably be responded to with the actions appropriate to one’s bodily safety being threatened.

YEP.
Be very careful who you tell your moves to, and never *ever* do it online, or even within hearing range of your cell phone or Alexa.

We're already at that point.

A new North Dakota bill would require stores to pull any book with any "material harmful to minors" from the shelves.

For those in the cheap seats, that effectively means ANY mention of sex, sexuality or gender.

A bookseller could be arrested for displaying 1984.

Port: It's not just about kids, and it's not just libraries
Legislation under consideration in Bismarck wouldn't just restrict access to books in schools and libraries. The language of the bill also applies to private book stores.
