Watched the 1984 Red Dawn for the first time and damn, I can understand why it hit cult classic status. A lot darker, and maybe also more thoughtful, than I had expected a presumably fairly typical 80s action movie to be.

I've used so few of my holidays this year that I'm in my last working week until the new year.

Got this damn cool poster for Predator Badlands from the cinema and I might be about to attain next levels of single because I'm actually contemplating putting it up on the wall...

I was 11 when Heat was first released in cinemas, so tonight's 30th anniversary screening at Cineworld was my first time witnessing THAT heist scene on the big screen with its god-tier audio in glorious surround sound, as Mann intended. For the nth time seeing this film, it loses none of its impact.

I don't consider myself that invested in my looks but everyone likes to feel good about themselves. Still, between psoriasis, social anxiety and low moods, I can go 2-3 months without sorting out the hair. Short feels more comfortable but feels like a downgrade from the unkempt aesthetic.

Oof, another absolute corker from Dan Trachtenberg and co with Predator: Badlands. Creative, fun, great visual design, and Sarah Schachner has created another incredible musical landscape.

Got to enjoy the Witcher In Concert at Aviva Studios Manchester last night with my daughter. We both loved it. The music and the vocals had huge energy.

The anxiety swamp was, as always, worth the wade. My first time seeing the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and they absolutely smashed out the Classic FM Hall of Fame concert. Superb talent and a great selection of music. Filled with joy to have seen it.

I have a concert to go to at 7pm and I have therefore done nought except nervously watch the clock today. When people ask me if I'm excited about a thing, I just smile and say, "yea". But it's hard to enjoy a thing til I'm at the thing because there's always a swamp of anxiety to wade through first.

Completed Jedi Fallen Order this week. Had I known how closely it follows the soulslike formula I probably wouldn't have picked it up, which would have been a shame because there's a great Star Wars story to be explored here with very likeable characters and top notch performances.

Still hyped. Just got back from seeing Of Monsters and Men at the Sheffield Foundry SU for their 'All is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade' album launch tour. Great set from the new songs and then got encored with my all time favourite, Dirty Paws. Love 'em.

Part of the reason I love movies is the sheer creativity, artistry, and determination in the making of the thing. The collective energy to bring a vision to life. We get out, what they put in.

So "art fed into ChatGPT" is putting in effortless, visionless nothingness. It saddens me deeply.
OpenAI confirms they're helping make an AI-generated movie called 'Critterz'

• Goal is to finish production in 9 months
• Budget is ~$30M
• Plan is to debut the film at Canne
• 'Paddington 3' writers penned the script
• Art will be fed into Chat GPT 5 and other image models

Another terrific documentary from NoClip. This one's opened my eyes to the latter Wolfenstein series as well. I'd given them a cursory glance in the past but I'd somewhat written them off as generic shooters. After this retrospective I can see there's a lot more to them and I will be jumping in.
🚨NEW DOC ALERT🕹️

The "Music By John Williams" documentary is an inspiring watch. A fitting tribute to the works of one of the greatest creatives of our time, a master, whose prolific body of compositions must have been heard, in some part, by almost anyone who has seen a movie in the last 70 years.

I literally booked minutes after I saw this revealed. One of my favourite bands and it's been six years since I last saw them; they've been away too long!

It was Taylor Tomlinson at the Manchester Apollo tonight. Another great comedian off my bucket list to see. An excellent set of new, possibly more mature, material, and Taylor's trademark quick wit playing off the audience. She was an absolute pleasure to watch.
