My favorite was always "Eh. He's okay." It sent people in to a tizzy. Nobody could cope with his mediocrity. I would never use the word "happy," but find it satisfying that it is known that he got off to adaptations of his own work. Humiliating. My similarly abusive cult leader ex was a fan.
I think the relief in being able to say the work is crap is just that for those of us who think his work was crap... saying so before would be met with a tidal wave of nasty shit from folks who liked his work. So it's tertiary to this moment, but...

Sometimes my own #sketchbook feels like I walked in on something. I should really be snooping around in this world on a more regular basis, especially during full moons. #snails love a watercolor bath. Maybe tonight.

Insult to injury with climate change: it’s the people who already are struggling who suffer more.

Climate change is a disability issue.

Climate change is a poverty issue.

Climate change is an inequity issue.

More people should have been saying this all along.
