This year’s theme, “Access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies,” reminds us that mental health care is a right, not a privilege.

To all LGBTQ+ community members navigating mental distress from discrimination to economic hardship and violence. You are not alone. 💚

This brings us to a broader, urgent point: Uganda desperately needs needs comprehensive sexuality education. Adolescents are growing up in a world where they encounter conflicting messages from peers, media, and society, often without reliable guidance.

Why celebrating pride is important.
Pride is awareness, Pride is resilience, it's simply expressing and existing together as a community.
It's solidarity for many people who can't celebrate or march.
Pride means refusing to be erased and choosing to simply be who you are.

Uganda | Human rights lawyer Godiva Akullo wins the 2025 David Kato Award for fearless LGBTQ+ advocacy. Once behind the scenes, now boldly public—because dignity, rights, and equality aren't up for debate, no matter how loud the haters scream.

Human rights lawyer Godiva is not new in the activism community, especially in fighting for the rights of sexual minorities. They have always operated under the radar, but over the past few years, they amplified their activism from the boardroom into the public domain.
