Having done [the tech for] a 24-hour charity stream, I think we would all have lost our minds if someone tacked an extra hour and 20 mins onto the end. Huge congratulations to @alexhorne.bsky.social and @thehornesection.bsky.social!!

BBC News - Vets should be made to publish prices, competition watchdog says - BBC News

I don't think a watchdog could ever be truly impartial in evaluating a vet...
Vets should be made to publish prices, competition watchdog says
Vet prices have risen at nearly twice the rate of inflation, the Competition and Markets Authority found.

Shout out to the conductor on the 20.46 train from Euston to Crewe who gave us really useful info about the train layout and connections timings :) @westmidrailway.bsky.social

One of the best things about Reddit is discovering extremely niche wars when you join new subreddits. I've discovered that r/tomatoes is deeply and bitterly divided over how much to prune plants and whether tomatoes ripened on the vine taste better than ones picked early and ripened on a counter.

People will fall through the gaps. Young disabled people without family to depend on. People with fluctuating health conditions which dont fit the forms. People without the support or strength to appeal. They will be made to work themselves iller.

But hey, at least we punished someone, eh?

Noooo I broke over a month-long streak of 6,000+ daily steps. It wasn't even that I skipped a day, I got to 5,953 steps and forgot to make sure I got the last few in before midnight...

I hate the phrase 'having standards' when it comes to dating.

Not finding someone attractive and not wanting to date them is fine and normal.

'Standards' makes it sound like there's some universal objective ranking system. As if you draw a line and dating anyone beneath it is debasing yourself.

I have officially retired the 24 Hour Podcast campaign for 2024. With all the late donations our final total was £3,180 for @safeinourworld.bsky.social. That's so much money and you were all so incredibly generous. The following tweets are some of my thoughts about the whole thing!

@thebunyipman.bsky.social on learning that mince pies no longer contain beef mince and are mainly dried fruit (news to him although he has eaten them before) "I thought they just contained beef and...flavour!"

Thank your Amazon driver so they get a $5 tip at no cost to you.

How? Search, “Thank my driver” in the Amazon search bar after delivery - or just tell Alexa. 🚚

You can do this from now until the end of December. 😉 #holidays #Amazon #shopping #bluecollar

Forgot it's Thanksgiving today and read this as permission to skip work and go for a walk instead
Just FYI - you don’t have to “earn” your food tomorrow. Go on a walk (if you want to!) to aid digestion and heart health, not because you feel guilty or obligated.

Someone who tells you that you need to earn your food is someone you should not trust.

Running the 24 hour podcast has fixed my insomnia for two nights straight. This feels like dangerous knowledge...

There's something really jarring about this. Is it common for American hiking trails to dead-end, or is this a one-off?
Saw this at the end of a trail and life needs more Achievement notices.

If we do it again the segment will be called Laura's weirder mouth tour. There was far too much enjoyment and knowledge this time!

@thebunyipman.bsky.social has set me up over 50 shortcut buttons to change the overlay in the 24h stream. Enjoy the first hour of me using them diligently before it all goes to chaos!

I just remembered that photo of naked John Lennon and Yoko Ono where Lennon has been photoshopped to have a really long arsecrack and Ono to have a tiny one.

I love it so much.

Watching back some of 2023's 24 Hour Podcast. It's somehow both less and more chaotic than I remember... @thebunyipman.bsky.social
