Sarah Wynn-Williams (the author) then had to carefully explain the legal, cultural, and religious intricacies.

Then her boss added that usually they didn’t care about the real-world consequences of FB (I did swear out loud at that, lol), but organ donation would require that they did.

FB’s nascent policy team was trying to find an int’l issue that FB could own and back, as a departure from their “neutral” stance.

Sandberg (I believe it was her) suggested organ donation.

The author had major misgivings on multiple levels, and tried pushing back.

It’s interesting that this whole tale, and the author’s fascination in its political potential, started in 2010, because that was when my doubts about Facebook’s trustworthiness and fidelity were starting to flare up.

I truly despise Facebook, all it has been and has become, and all it stands for.
