but if i'm not allowed to feed artists into my artist killing machine it's going to be basically impossible for the machine to keep killing artists. is that what you want?? and before you answer keep in mind this is a very expensive machine

I went to a couple of genAI talks at GDC and came away feeling very secure in my job. The amount of labor that goes into "co-creating" stories with AI simply isn't worth the effort.

one thing this demonstrates is the extent to which racial, gender, and sexual discrimination has been an important cause and substance of worker organizing, rather than (as is too often claimed) some kind of HR-driven distraction
This to me is one of the central stories about current US politics. The tech barons who decisively threw their support behind Trump wanted commercial benefits, of course; but even more, they wanted to discipline their own employees. That’s the real content of all the anti-DEI stuff.

The video game industry feels so much like the film industry at the end of the silent era in the way studios consider their own back catalogs to be worthless and abandon or actively suppress them in order to promote their new stuff. Like that era, we will find it to be an incalculable loss.
fun fact: 87% of games produced before 2010 are not legally available to the public via any means
