Gotta be a continuation of her Israeli influence narratives and an attempt to tie that into the various Epstein conspiracy theories, no?

I guess that’s fair, but when you have a lot of guys who are essentially second line talent who have to match up against the the top line on other teams it can be a slog.
November 14, 2025 at 5:31 AM
I think Seattle fans are vastly overrating their level of attacking talent. Not many teams around the league would look at that roster and see it as an upgrade over their own.
November 14, 2025 at 5:17 AM
We all know the biggest thing holding MLS back is the refusal of owners to spend money on the roster & there is no indication that will change. Aligning transfer windows is a marginal benefit if the spending constraints remain. You may actually make the issue worse with falling gameday revenue.

Maybe those people are the experts and they’ll prove to be correct but I think it’s more likely that they engaging in wishful group think. They are over indexing on soccer business intricacies that have merit but have a tenuous connection to TV results and market dynamics.

Look forward to the book, but utterly unconvinced getting a few more Euro transfers over the line & May playoffs will move TV revenue. The trend in this debate is the deeper someone is in the soccer world, the more convinced they are of that this will matter but very little evidence to support this.

The stands are consistently more full in the south for summer games than the spring games.

Think so? It looks like the current 338 projection still gives them a 11 seat majority cushion.

Are the PQ really going to force a referendum with these numbers?!?!
November 12, 2025 at 3:40 PM
We’ve been playing in July for the last 30 years without incident. Plenty countries play at those temps. Euros just be soft like that. No one anywhere plays in -12 though.

FWIW the stated reasons for the change are transfer window alignment, not because Roman Burki doesn’t like playing in July.
November 11, 2025 at 4:19 PM
Italy and Spain are off in the summer because that’s not when they traditionally play in Europe, not because it’s considered dangerous. Scandinavia by contrast had to deviate from the Euro norm for a reason. If you can’t play soccer when it’s in the 80s that’s news to huge sections of the globe.
November 11, 2025 at 3:17 PM
That would not seem to be the case unless they do a two month winter break. The MLS offseason is 3 months, 4 for non-playoff teams. So most likely scenario is September- June schedule. A non-playoff team like MTL won’t play a single game all summer even though that is when attendance now peaks.
November 11, 2025 at 3:10 PM
If this type of weather is not suitable for play in Scandinavia, why is it ok for MLS? The US played a single cold weather qualifier in Minnesota and the pundits made a massive deal about how unsafe and irresponsible it was.
November 11, 2025 at 2:55 PM
The Russian way is a 3 month winter break, so sure if that’s what you want to do. MLS already puts northern teams on the road in March and April to avoid the weather, so now you want to force them to be away from home for four or five months?!
November 11, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Does anyone really know? Vienna’s weather is most similar to Cincinnati FWIW. The comps for colder MLS markets are in countries like Russia and Sweden that take a few months off.
November 11, 2025 at 2:22 AM
That’s simply not true. The Scandinavian countries that regularly receive similar levels snow and freezing temps as cold MLS cities do not play Dec - Feb. other countries like Poland and Austria taking a longer winter break than what is rumored for MLS.

Aligns pretty well with the national realignment. Working class voters moving into the Poilievre tent and older affluent voters moving left. Curious to study the nuances of those red pockets on the West side.

Dude literally decided to have dinner last week with an active NHL player who declared bankruptcy because of 1.5 million in gambling losses in a 12 month period and that some suspect gambled on his own games.
