📖 First book read from my #40by40 list.

I'm still mulling over my thoughts...it was great, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it!! I almost think it could be better on a second read-through.

I definitely need a bit of a palette cleanser now!

Many smaller-scale historical dumps are frequently located in riparian zones, especially associated with farms and estates. We do not have a map of these hazards, because so many of them are buried on private, inaccessible land. 1/2
Historic landfills can contain items we use less today or wouldn't dispose of in landfill. Think lead paint or batteries, asbestos, arsenic. Until relatively recently, there was no requirement to line landfill. Many are in flood or coastal erosion zones.

Time to start my #40by40!

I made a list of 40 books I aim to read by the time I hit 40 years. They either scare me (for various reasons) or I feel like I'll never read them otherwise.

No books I've read previously & no duplication of author.

Any words of warning/encouragement are welcome! 😅

Several years ago, at my @eastbio.bsky.social PhD interview, I was asked to talk about a paper from outside of my field that interested me. I can't remember what my answer was then, but I definitely know what it would be now!! 🐀 🐀 🐀

Too cute...and of course important!

The study found both sexes enjoy tickling — but males prefer rougher play, while females respond better when pinning is minimised.
