Trump didn't warp the party, that was done before him by the very "Never Trump" elites who thought they could control the racist, misogynistic part of society starting in the 60s. They took over no later than 2010.

Trump is a symptom, a catalyst, not the cause. He just gave them permission.

Maybe, but Wilders did a lot of damage to his own brand. He was the obvious cause of much of the chaos in the ruling coalition. Plus, a number of voters turned to the PVV because of how the previous gov'ts mishandled affairs, not because they were attracted to Wilders' ideology.

And before misinfo, incorrect assumptions about how the world works. I talked to a states' rights guy who clearly assumed state gov'ts were just mini federal gov'ts. He didn't realize how many legislatures were part-time, and that some only met every other year! Misinfo builds on those gaps.
