If Imu is Antichrist, Luffy is Christ. For hundreds of chapters, Luffy seems nothing more than the happy-go-lucky captain of his crew, attracting disciples and dethroning tyrants. The observation that his trademark image, a red-striped straw hat, resembles a bloody crown of thorns might seem like a stretch. But in One Piece’s final saga, Oda’s Christian apocalyptic imagery has become undeniable. Around chapter 1,000, Luffy and his allies battle their most powerful rivals: a dragon named Kaidou and a soul-devouring cannibal with dozens of children named “Big Mom.” Revelation depicts Christ confronting a dragon representing Satan and the Whore of Babylon (a “woman drunken with the blood of the saints” like a ­cannibal [Rev. 17:6]). Kaidou nearly defeats Luffy. But Luffy transforms into the Christ of Revelation 1:14: “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.”

As Delegate of San Francisco, what should you do with these people? I think the answer is clear: alternative energy. Since wards are liabilities, there is no business case for retaining them in their present, ambulatory form. Therefore, the most profitable disposition for this dubious form of capital is to convert them into biodiesel, which can help power the Muni buses. Okay, just kidding. This is the sort of naive Randian thinking which appeals instantly to a geek like me, but of course has nothing to do with real life. The trouble with the biodiesel solution is that no one would want to live in a city whose public transportation was fueled, even just partly, by the distilled remains of its late underclass. However, it helps us describe the problem we are trying to solve. Our goal, in short, is a humane alternative to genocide. That is: the ideal solution achieves the same result as mass murder (the removal of undesirable elements from society), but without any of the moral stigma. Perfection cannot be achieved on both these counts, but we can get closer than most might think.

No apologies necessary, dude; I'm happy to hear about your music journey and to see how it overlaps with my own. It's funny how many of things you posted are relevant to my journey. I was just starting to get into dubstep & underground electronic music when untrue (the Burial album) came out. The depth of it, the thick atmosphere, the raw emotive expression of it helped me to realize (along with guys like World's End Girlfriend and Yasutaka Nakata) the unlimited potential exisiting in electronic music, that I previously naively believed was only possible in guitar world. Skrillex, at the time, it felt like he took a sledgehammer to all of that. The video you linked is great and really encapsulates the effect of music like his and the feelings it left me with. I remember my music soulmate sending me scary monsters/nice sprites saying, "dude this is cool" and I'm just sitting there listening and thinking, "how is this cool?" It was different, and unique - no doubt about that. But the elements I had grown to love and appreciate about electronic music felt absent. No emotion, just noise. Funny because prior to this, i was really into post-hardcore, and this guy led a post-hardcore band that was similarly offensive to me. Always felt like he's been tailing my music journey, even now. It used to piss me off so much, but I'm starting to understand, thanks to your posts, that it's happened that way for a reason, like everything else. I think it's to help me find acceptance - for people, for music, for the world. If it weren't for Skrillex, you and I may have never found a meeting point. Skrillex was actually very influential on the JP netlabel scene of the early-mid '10s, and a lot of which is extremely emotive music, like tomggg. Without Skrillex, there may not be this meeting point for the mainstream audiences and deeper, previously walled off and (for many) largely unintelligible electronic music scenes. Skrillex's music and his recent development, as much as I've disliked so much of it, has been integral to this meeting point developing. This sameyness of things that I'm complaining about, that I feel he still is very much contributing to, is necessary for everyone to find common ground. The track you linked is such a perfect choice to me. I've never liked a Skrillex track - never - until I heard that one. It is solid; good, modern approach and def fit for club usage with its clean and punchy production. Opts for more mainstream appeal over respect for the roots (as expected), so it wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice, but I could play this. Really, thank you for sharing what you did. It's helped me to find clarity and understanding for the situation. Guys like Skrillex are providing the meeting point. Now it's up to people like me to keep pushing the sounds of the underground and to show people the depth of it all that I fell in love with, which I think will always have importance and relevance. None of us are free until we're all free, and I strongly believe music is a part of finding that freedom and togetherness.

Ok I regret to say that I've never considered how important alt text could potentially be. But this makes sense and I will make an effort to include it in future media posts.

Hey, here's a long drawn-out response I wrote, but in summary basically, Ghost seems to just be a suite of (freely available & open-source) tools to enable automated creation of the blog and operation of its features. Ghost apparently also offers a blogging platform itself.
