yeah the models are a mess now, the cancelled weather soundings and such must be taking a toll. They did ok with montpelier for this morning though, pre dawn snow and then slop now.

i still remember being caught in a rain storm and having blue manic panic dye streaming around my face circa 2001. Though for sure they have to have better dye now than then.

yeah i had colorful hair for a short time and it looked awesome but is a LOT of work and i work outside and it just wasn't working out to keep doing it. Granted this was like 1999 so i was pretty much the only one doing it, also didn't know i am autistic and was super masked then anyway.

fields on inat are a free form mess, not standardized or documented in any way most of the time. I wish they'd put more effort into that or elevating some of them to 'annotations' which are within the site functionality. But i wish a lot of things about inaturalist, and most never come true...

for what it is worth squirrels taste pretty good especially ones fat on walnuts but you probably aren't supposed to hunt them at your house unless you are in a very rural area

if it hasn't happened yet i don't think it will. they are fully compromised, basically paid actors at this point. I don't believe the current people in the supreme court majority will ever rule constitutionally again. Doesn't mean there isn't some way out of this, but those people will not save us.

while it's probably not true, i like to think the tail change was due to them cancelling their deceleration burn after they learned enough about us to decide to GTFO and find the next star system in a billion more years.

It was a sleeper. Wide swaths of dud, but then some areas were randomly just golden fire. The maples and ashes were mostly no good but the aspens were as bright as i've ever seen them

i honestly wish there was more awareness of this as just part of neurodiversity. sometimes it's a 'sleep disorder' but sometimes i think its just, our species evolved to always have someone awake and society now doesn't know how to deal with that

it's actually gotten a little easier for me to wake up early after having kids. i think extreme sleep deprivation just changed my brain somehow or else, just nothing else will ever be that bad again sleepwise.

i guess i fed it in a circular way but looking at politics posts more. I can't find the balance of wanting to be informed but not doomscroll, but also wanting to do other things. I don't know. I just miss social media from a decade ago i guess. maybe with rose tinted glasses

it isn't that i don't want politics, i want to be aware of that stuff (with limited doomscrolling), but just i want a place to nerd out about ecology which isn't just posturing about journal posts or whatever. I mean... to each their own, i kinda just am on the edges of everything
