Every day, children and families—especially Black, Brown, and Indigenous families—are harmed by the U.S. family policing system (“child welfare”). It operates as a machine of control & surveillance.

This isn't care. It's racialized and poverty-based punishment. #AccountabilityNow #HumanRights

Foster care is such a necessary system but SO broken and harmful. Once again we need massive reform, funding, and a change in approach from punitive to SUPPORTIVE.
In Georgia, a mom facing eviction reached out to DFCS for help. They offered her nothing. Soon the agency took her kids away because of "inadequate housing."

The state then paid *$6,200 a month* to house her kids in foster care.

One of the most important and infuriating stories I read this year:
When Families Need Housing, Georgia Will Pay for Foster Care Rather Than Provide Assistance
In more than 700 cases over five years, Georgia reported inadequate housing as the sole reason for taking a child into foster care, a WABE and ProPublica analysis found. Advocates say it would be chea...

Ever wonder if the reason foster care reform is never brought up by the same politicians who scream about abortion daily?

Possibly because they don’t want their supply chain disrupted?

Our justice/prison system has needed reform since it began. Our foster care system is filled with abuse too.
