So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

My background is in international studies. Culture, sure, but also looking at systems and histories from a comparative lens.

The U.S. is not the world, we have a lot to learn from other countries.
Hi! I was wondering if you can explain a bit more on “international perspective”. Is it similar to “ examining cultural differences” when looking at themes through a sociological lens?

My Icelandic publishers office is on the ground floor in a residential neighbourhood where there are a lot of house cats. And many, many of the cats who live in neighbouring houses "work" at my publishers during the day, i.e. sleep and eat at home but spend 8 hours at their office during the week. 🧵
