Pete just consistently makes it clear he's gay but will never be queer.

He's as heteronormative and assimilationist as a white rich gay dude can be, and never fails to show he's not part of our community.

Also it may sound funny but I'm so proud of my clever chickens for finding safe places to hide out of the dog's reach as it attacked.

I wish we'd been able to grab it to check the collar for tags, or even been able to follow it when it fled to see where it lives. I'm scared it'll come back.

I keep stewing over how lucky we were earlier today and what I can do to mitigate risk going forward. Thinking of seeing how cheaply I could find a trail cam to documentation if it tries to get back in through my greenhouse, plus setting up some additional barriers to entry in front of that window.

Finished up the hanging pot kitty today, and got the next project set up.

Needless to say the chickens all got lots of treats and some cuddling (also checking over for injuries). But I'm pretty furious there's a neighbor dog that was willing to destroy its way into a backyard in order to get at chickens.

We looked for Pusheen or her remains for quite a while after, once I reassembled and closed the louver window. We looked in neighbor's yards, the front yard, and had started crying on the assumption we'd never find her. But spouse finally found her wedged behind a raised bed by the fence, terrified.

Looks like this boxer looking dog broke through the ground level louver window in my greenhouse to go after our chickens.

We found Mei quickly after the dog fled back out that window, and found Tomo not too long after. Both were scared but unharmed.
