Who could resist roast hazelnuts served in cream and honey, or wild oat scones dipped in arrowroot sauce, brown nutcheese on carrot and parsley bread with chopped radishes, or a huge home-baked plum and damson cake, all washed down with either buttercup an' honey fizz cordial or apple juice.

There was steaming hot mushroom and celery soup with wild oat and barley bread, followed by chestnut and mushroom bake. This was followed by a hefty beechnut sponge topped with honeysuckle sauce. Hot pennycress an' comfrey tea was served, along with mulberry brandy.
