Just a cat who likes Christmas movies

Did find one showing that had multiple seats sold and pretty sure, "Seeing Candace Cameron Bure TV movie, in a theater, alone, on Thanksgiving weekend," might be a sadder one-sentence story than, "for sale, baby shoes, never worn."

Also, two theaters near me are showing ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS, one properly placing it in a theater that looks roughly the size of my living room, and ticket sales seem to be going about how you'd expect. Literal twos of people rushing out.

Several PBS stations, including Chicago's WTTW, are doing a CALL THE MIDWIFE holiday special marathon this December, airing specials from 2021-24 on December 21, to prep for the new, feature-length special on December 25.

The PEEP SHOW cast—David Mitchell, Olivia Colman, Isy Suttie, Matt King and Sophie Winkleman—will reunite for the first time since 2015 for THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE-OFF celebrity Christmas special, which UK viewers will see this holiday season, and US viewers next year on Netflix.

NOVOCAINE is Christmas-y and has a great cast, but as a certified wuss needed it to be more fun action and less squelchy, grotesque action. Quaid Jr and Nicholson Jr fun to watch though.

MELT MY HEART THIS CHRISTMAS grabbed Sunday's best movie ratings of year, with 1.231M live + same day viewers, to become the No. 1 show on cable (all categories).

And, Hallmark's 6 PM re-air (2023's MIRACLE IN BETHLEHEM, PA, also starring Laura Vandervoort) once again did very well, drawing 717k.

HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A BILLS LOVE STORY just shy of THREE WISEST MEN's total, with very respectable 1.516M, to earn No. 2 spot (all shows) on cable, behind ESPN college football.

But what's great for 2025, is still a 47% drop from the first TOUCHDOWN last year, though that aired Thanksgiving weekend.

Hallmark had its best weekend of the season so far, claiming the top non-news/sports cable channel Friday, Saturday and Sunday

MISTLETOE MURDERS wrapped its second season with its highest ratings to date, 989K at 8 PM and 924K at 9 PM, showing growth every week of its run

CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS sits atop Netflix global Top 10 with 20.5M views in its first week, better than last year's HOT FROSTY (16M).

A MERRY LITTLE EX-MAS hanging in there at No. 6 in its second week of release.

Don't let anyone tell you people don't want holiday rom-coms

Hallmark appears to have ditched the already completed series RIPPLE, starring Isn Harding and Julia Chan, completely. It will instead debut on Netflix, with little fanfare, on December 3.

As far as I know, this is the first time Hallmark has sold off a fully produced series.

CHRISTMAS KARMA currently sitting at 10% on Rotten Tomatoes with a mere 49% audience score.
November 24, 2025 at 10:24 PM
After an extremely limited US release, the critically maligned CHRISTMAS KARMA will reportedly be available for digital sale/rental on December 2.

And if you've never seen MOTHERLAND, and don't have Britbox, the whole series (three seasons), minus the elusive "Last Christmas" 2022 one-off special, is available as a box set right now on iTunes for $9.99.

Hilarious and well worth it. Just an absolutely brilliant series.

Britbox US has finally released their December schedule, and it's thin and, sadly, no STUFFED…

Dec 24: ROYAL CAROLS: TOGETHER AT CHRISTMAS
Dec 25: THE KING'S CHRISTMAS ADDRESS
Dec 27: MRS BROWN'S BOYS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
Dec 31: GARDENERS' WORLD WINTER SPECIAL

Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct, for the first time, the FROM VIENNA: THE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION, which will air in the US on PBS, January 1, and include performances from the Vienna State Ballet.

So, this is a genre, apparently. This one is also pretty clever.

Aside from all the smoking (So. Much. Smoking. And in 2001?!), BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY remains a near perfect movie, and a completely perfect holiday watch/rewatch.

Can we get, like, a hair interventionist for Dustin Milligan? Is that a thing? Like, this is a very attractive man and we know he CAN have good hair on camera. And yet he chooses not to? Let's solve that mystery next.
November 24, 2025 at 3:02 PM
At this point Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes should just be in EVERY Hallmark holiday movie. Like, hiding behind a sofa to interrupt main character' almost kiss, just standing in the corner of a room holding a wreath, passing by to do the Distracted Boyfriend meme. Just lean all the way in.
November 24, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Also, as a non-holiday aside, the really good Hulu original ROSALINE, pulled from the service by Disney less than six months after its debut, also just turned up on Prime Video.
November 24, 2025 at 2:39 PM
A bunch of animated specials, some heretofore hard to find on streaming, a few old Freeform/ABC Family holiday originals, and a hugely regrettable sequel, all just arrived on Amazon Prime Video.
November 24, 2025 at 2:38 PM
Just read THE TWELVE TOPSY-TURVY, VERY MESSY DAYS OF CHRISTMAS, and can see how it would absolutely make a fun movie, so hope this announced project with Michael Sheen and Eva Longoria actually comes to fruition. Haven't found any updates since the announcement six months ago.

Outside of Hallstar and Bill cameos HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A BILLS STORY was mostly blah Vidler’s ad and if you drank every time they said “new stadium,” well, RIP

But last 20 minutes hit hard and I actually cried so don’t know what to say other than wonder why this KC twosome were tree shopping in NY?
