I'm new to keeping chickens, since September. I didn't expect to be such a lame-o, sending pictures of eggs every day. I'm unapologetically giddy. Hearing the egg song is a treat. I get how people quit the rat race and go into self-sufficient farming life. It's powerful, daily joy.

Photos of some of mine growing outdoors in January in NC, zone 7b. (They'll look better when it warms up.) You typically use them like green onions. Cut the tops off and cook or use raw.

Happy this amaryllis bloomed for Christmas. I started it late and thought I wouldn't see a flower this year. I'll plant the bulb outside in May. Zone 7b, NC USA.
