I'm new to keeping chickens, since September. I didn't expect to be such a lame-o, sending pictures of eggs every day. I'm unapologetically giddy. Hearing the egg song is a treat. I get how people quit the rat race and go into self-sufficient farming life. It's powerful, daily joy.

Apologies to any annoyed neighbors for all the noise today. Agnes crowed for the first time a couple of days ago. He figured it out today and decided to show off. He'll be rehomed tomorrow. Obviously he was supposed to be a layer, not a crower. Hatchery mistake. #rooster

Planning my warm season veg garden. Add peanuts (a legume)? I'll start researching immediately since they are spring planted. I have garden space, but clay soil and deer pressure. They are worth an attempt. Anything to help hold on to goodness. #presidentcarter
