Turkey pan on top of sheet pan bain Marie. The stuffing is underneath the inverted rack, on top of a sheet of oiled parchment paper to further protect it from burning on the bottom. Oven is starting at 400 degrees, but after 15 minutes will go down to 325 for the duration, hopefully 3 hours total.

Sheet pan with water and silicone spacers. The turkey roasting pan will be held just above the surface of the water.

Turkey came out of the brine at 12:30, after 40 hours. After spatchcocking and trussing, it is now resting, draped over its inverted roasting rack. I have placed ice packs on the breast to keep it cold while the legs warm up to ambient. Stuffing is divided into two portions...

To appreciate what a thorough drubbing this is for California Republicans, you have to compare that map to the county map from the 2024 election. There are districts in the map above that were R+8 in 2024 and just voted to have themselves Gerrymandered away!

What you see stretching off for half a mile here is less than half of the one I was in today!

No Kings march from Dolores Park to Civic Center, San Francisco. The massive crowd, seen here walking up Dolores Street filled the entire 1.5 mile route from Mission Dolores Park to Civic Center. By the time these people arrived, the plaza was already full, and there's over half a mile of them left!

Massive crowd walking down Market Street. Must have been at least 200K. Civic Center Plaza was full already before all the people you see in this shot arrived there. You can just make out a massive pink triangle on the top of Twin peaks in the far distance.

Alas, cat photos make me sad now, because it seems I've lost my beloved Atticus. Didn't show up for dinner two nights ago and hasn't been seen since. ☹️

Here's another really remarkable image of Saturn I'm particularly fond of. Look at the alt text to see what's actually remarkable about it.

Which is to say, tonight's dinner is Chinese BBQ-marinated Korean short ribs wish sushi rice and four kinds of home-made sides: Mirin-simmered button Shiitake caps with baked tofu, Kimchi-style fresh Napa cabbage, marinated bean sprouts with sesame oil, and sichuan peppercorn quick-wokked cucumbers
