Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

And there's the same freeze in Indigenous services. So a 10% cut once you factor in population growth.

The purpose of austerity budgets is always to transfer public wealth into private hands. And in a country like Canada that always means a transfer to the same handful of domestic oligarchs and resource extraction multinationals.

How can these land defenders be found guilty of contempt when they were on land under Wet’suwet’en jurisdiction?

The absurdity of “community service” being handed to 3 people who’s entire lives have been in service to their people.

May this entire colonial racist system burn to the ground.

Critical to mobilizing “AI” resistance is understanding that corporations now know that the marketing term “AI,” is becoming toxic. That doesn’t mean they’re going to halt their data extraction & prediction business. It just means they’re getting sneakier about how they’re punching it into products.

I’m guessing the reason OpenAI wants to do erotica is to gather more personal information from users. It will insist on camera access to verify DL and passport photos and use that data to train models. If it can create dossiers and eventually a social graph it can match the advantage Meta AI has

I love how the pro-generative “AI” crowd aggressively insists that it is not all about robot girlfriends and “free” labour, and as time goes on, it seems to be about robot girlfriends and free labour.

the number of times I've seen Canadians give land acknowledgements at tech conferences and then immediately launch into discussions about "Canadian digital sovereignty" that completely excludes any concept of Indigenous rights or even us as Peoples at all. Canada, like all settler colonial projects, is very careful about who it "recognizes" and who it doesn't. Always read the fine print, the conditions mean everything. Remember, this is the country that still has an "Indian Act" which demonstrates how this process works in practice.
Canada, Australia, the U.K. and France have finally -- conditionally -- joined the many other nations who recognize the State of Palestine.

But today, Prime Minister Mark Carney also once again called for a “Zionist Palestine.”

Here's what's going on:
September 22, 2025 at 10:37 PM
Surprise, the country that recognizes Indigenous nations within its so-called country, but doesn't give them any actual veto powers, and the country that started it all, makes a half-hearted gesture that doesn't mean anything.
Canada and the UK formally "recognizing" the state of Palestine with massive terms and conditions that gives them no self determination is going to be the strongest example of the dangers of centrist attempts at appeasing everyone while appeasing no one; leading to the far right taking over
