I get your overarching point and you're not wrong, but "worse than the Wilpons" is needlessly hyperbolic.
The Mets being owned by a rich man with Twitter fingers is much better than the vast majority of the Wilpons antics. I'm glad someone locked his phone away during the Soto FA.

Also maybe doesn't help that it's to the Dodgers.

I think a big reason why people are upset is bc the Mets haven't produced reliable RPs from their minors yet. The process is there to build that depth; but until the Stearns draft picks reach the majors and produce, people will have trust issues about letting the known commodity go.

there's a weird irony where Nimmo's biggest problem for a few years was that he couldn't stay healthy. then he signs the huge contract and has 3 generally very healthy seasons, but the signs of physical decline have never been more evident lol

I almost respect that the Braves signed the former Mets coaches because it would cause the most angst among Mets fans. Like, I highly doubt the outrage is at this level if Hefner and Richardson went somewhere forgettable like the Angels.

As you might guess, while trending up is a good thing, 2% is not enough to fend off a potential price increase. So here I am asking again to help us keep our price an insanely affordable $45.95 for what you get. It's a great time to subscribe with our Midseason 50 out and the deadline coming up.

Do you think the teams that generally avoid drafting these kinds of players do it because they're too risk averse?

I'm not sure exactly how FOs look at & evaluate their own player development. I imagine there's a practical difference in "can we fix this?" vs "is it worth fixing this?"
