I spent most of the day birding. When I got home, I had to cut the grass. I went outside and found this.

Have a nice bug.

The focus is too soft on the eye. This is going to require some adjustments. Great egret, Sterling Heights, MI #bird #birds #🪶 #naturephotography #birdphotography

The last question on everyone's mind is what I listen to in the shower. So I feel obligated to tell you.

Today was disc 1. Tomorrow will be disc 2.

This Cooper's hawk was interrupted, not by me, during its robin breakfast so it took a break on a post while the cars passed. Sterling Heights, MI. May 3, 2025 #bird #🪶 #raptor #birdphotography #naturephotography

I take nature photos for fun. I take glamor/boudoir photos as a side gig. New camera and lens combination allows me to crop so I don't have to do separate detail shots if I don't want to. #flower #rose #glamorphoto #glamorphotography

This week, Cornell Ornithology Lab asked on Instagram, "What bird do you look forward returning each Spring?"

For me, it's the rusty blackbird. I love their gurgles. Saw 5-6 this morning while photographing meadowlarks. #bird #🪶

I expect a mating pair of rough-wings to return soon. They nest in a semi trailer that has been parked in our loading dock for the past few years.

Most people photograph northern harriers hovering while hunting, including all the fabulous gray ghost photos. Northern harriers also scavenge in the winter, especially when food is scarce. They will intimidate other birds away from their prey.

One of the biggest surprises from my 2019 trip to Glacier National Park. American marten. We were coming back from Avalanche Lake when something small and fast came running up the trail behind us. This is the best photo I could get in low light with my reaction time.

I have two gray squirrels with squirrel pox. They seem to be eating okay ('cause I feed them). I think they share the same nest because the rest of the squirrels are okay. This one had crusty skin that was akin to mange but it has since opened up. If it was mange, I might have been able to treat it.
