Correct. As constructed, premium payments are essentially a tax. We have to have many people paying in that don't cost the system to subsidize those who do. That's how insurance works. It's why term life insurance is so cheap. Basic.

Chat GPT gets this kind of thing wrong all the time. Try asking about airline routes from hubs like Tell me all the airlines that fly direct from DFW to SEA and it will not get that correct at all.
