I delivered the Post when I was a kid (decades and decades ago). It’s not at all what it was.

We now live in the Age of the Onion (i.e., interesting, cursed times).

Hi everybody,

It's Black Friday, a big day for us at The Onion, since we rely almost entirely on your memberships.

Our goal for 2026? More print subscribers than the Washington Post.

This is, somehow, feasible.

So sign up! A year of print is $75 for the year today. Help us do a very funny thing.

Is there anything better about aging than moving up to less competitive age groups?
Annual neighborhood Turkey Trot 10K: 48:38, a little slower than last year, which was a little slower than the prior year. Still grateful I can do it, and for the 16 other old bastards in my age group slower than I am.

Trying to decide whether to snort this or mainline it
Crucial thing to watch: The Dem blowout wins suggest it'll be way more risky for GOPers to gerrymander, because the GOP safer seats may become more vulnerable than expected. Rs in those seats will now be very nervous.

Exchange on this w/Dem operative Jessica Post:

I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

Ours is the “interesting/ignorant” age
What’s interesting/ignorant about this is that we *do do the big things here - the AI and the weapons systems. And we don’t do T shirts and textiles at scale.

Once again, he has no idea how any of this works.
Trump: "We're not looking to make sneakers and t-shirts. We want to make military equipment, we want to make big things. We want to do the AI things with the computers. But the textile -- you know, I'm not looking to make t-shirts, to be honest. I'm not looking to make socks."

Holy shit. There is some tab among my 400+ tabs that suddenly, without reason, appears to have started playing a podcast... twice? Like it started randomly, and then 30 seconds later, it started again? So it's the same podcast repeating over itself AND I CANNOT FIND THE TAB. HELP.
