You’re overwhelmingly positive again!

Akashi might have been my fav of the festival - beautiful photography, and it successfully weaves a very personal story into a broader commentary about creativity and the impulses that drive artists. If Universal Language hadn’t come out last year, it would have been my fav recent Canadian film.

Arco isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s one of those things with a lot of good ingredients that feel put together. It’s got some compelling imagery and an okay premise, but it’s very much a children’s animated film in the - don’t think too hard about anything - way. Dub casting was terrible.

95% of world class directors and studio execs are used to stamping their feet and moving mountains on unreasonable timelines. VFX makes them wait and they hate it if it doesn’t conform to their vision perfectly. Even the ones that understand the process would rather see us dead than have to wait.
