Then again, there are increasing rumors of a buildup in Baltimore and uh, not the city I’d try that in. Picture unrelated

Your Baltimore City Council committee hearings for this week & next, along with a couple reschedulings (Including the LUT hearing for the Housing Options & Opportunity Act, which I think is now in December).
November 10, 2025 at 10:39 PM
The sole item on 3rd Reader tonight is @pt-gray.bsky.social's pregnancy accommodations bill. A few amendments remove criminal penalties for violations in favor of civil penalties but simultaneously increase the amounts of said civil penalties. The bill is approved without any further comment.
November 10, 2025 at 10:35 PM
2nd Reader concludes with a Public Health & Environment committee informational hearing resolution involving the availability of naloxone in public buildings. The resolution is adopted:
November 10, 2025 at 10:33 PM
Next, over from Budget & Appropriations to Land Use & Transportation for Mark Parker's bill banning "commercial motor vehicle repair on city streets" except for emergency repairs & ones made on people's own property. There are a couple amendments, mostly altering fine amounts & structures.
November 10, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Sooooo many supplementary budget appropriations: BPD, DOT for snow & ice control, the Sheriff's Office, Urban Forestry in Rec & Parks, MOED, you name it...
November 10, 2025 at 10:28 PM
@electryandorsey.bsky.social moves to read short titles so it must be 2nd Reader time. We start with several more supplementary budget appropriations.
November 10, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Finally, @pt-gray.bsky.social closes out 1st Reader with a resolution for immediate adoption recognizing November as "National Family Caregivers Month". Unsurprisingly the resolution is indeed immediately adopted unanimously, w/ @odetteramos.bsky.social as an excused absence.
November 10, 2025 at 10:21 PM
...@bmorecitydot.bsky.social again for much-needed improvements to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial/Hanover Street Bridge & work associated with the Jones Falls Gateway project, & finally to the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership for the Smith Cove Project:
November 10, 2025 at 10:18 PM
Over to Budget & Appropriations for some more supplementary budget appropriations. Broadband for public housing, the Convention Center, @bmorecitydot.bsky.social for the deconstruction & development of the Highway to Nowhere...
November 10, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Also bound for LUT, an administrative sidewalk accessibility bill from @mayorbmscott.bsky.social via @zekecohen.bsky.social. AFAICT this is mostly codifying existing stuff (I certainly hope it is, tbqh) but either way it's clearly connected to the recent Disability Rights MD ADA lawsuit settlement.
November 10, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Next (Also LUT) a PUD designation for Ticoly Eco-Village, a new green development profiled in @thebaltimorebanner.com earlier this year: www.thebanner.com/community/ho...
November 10, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Next, a conditional use live entertainment zoning variance for Checkerspot Brewing from Phylicia Porter, one of a few bills headed to the Land Use & Transportation Committee this week.
November 10, 2025 at 10:08 PM
1st Reader starts w/ a bill from Jermaine Jones to increase (& set more stringent standards for) compensation for security officers, bound for the Labor & Workforce Committee, which he chairs. It's followed by a moving speech from the Councilman about the conditions which make the bill necessary.
