I do not like your AI slop
I do not want this worthless glop
I do not read its overviews
I don't care what Grok says is true
I do not like it here nor there
I'm tired of it everywhere

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

Perfect timing for this story to drop on the same day Amazon lays off 30,000 workers due to claims of AI efficiencies.

If companies have less work for people to do, they don’t give you Fridays off, they lay off people until everyone has a full workweek.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan says AI will shorten our workweek | TechCrunch
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan says that, in a few years, we should be working a 3-4 day workweek because of AI.

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

Does anyone know 7 more gamers (non-prime, non-gifted) who could use some cute critter emotes to help me extend my 70/30 for another month? Almost there :D

When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles.

Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

This morning my husband joked to my dad "you're going to be responsible for introducing our baby to sports and other straight dude hobbies" and my sweet father responded "well, in my experience they just come how they come and your only job is to enjoy whoever they are."

Also the queer chat, the obscure punctuation chat, the beautiful views and beautiful things chat, the food chat, the cats chat, the philosophy chat, the let's-cheer-each-other-up chat, the books chat, the bookshops chat, and the congratulations chat, lots of that. Also the rhyming chat.
Hello, I'm here for the nonsense chat, the chat about word-shapes and writingness, the science chat, the TV and film chat, the surprising chat where I learn things and meet interesting people, and also the joyous chat. Definitely here for some joy. Are you here for some of that too?

Having a light touch with jokes is a real thing, and sometimes difficult to do. The reason I came up with the phrase "The failure mode of 'clever' is 'asshole'" is that no one needs that reminder more than I do. I've clevered myself into hurting others more often than I care to remember.
I find myself really reeling in my snark over here for that reason. I like to joke around, but part of my fun at the other place was insulting fascists and idiots, so I don't trust my judgment right now to not sound bullying when I only mean to joke. Thx for your post!
