I sketched out a stage 3 boss called BRPG-2 "Beetle" for my game Parazonium. It has wing-like turrets because I think they give a certain kickass look. Don't mind incorrect geometry.

On original arcade hardware version of Shinobi, the helicopter drops behind the ground.
On the new Neo Geo port it drops in front of the ground, causing middle explosion sprites to drop.
I speculate that the helicopter and explosion sprites are rendered on the same sprite layer.
