OMG I did it! After much faffing about, I managed to make a European save file that unlocks the Gradius Sword in the PAL version of Vandal Hearts 2!

dunno what I expected here, but just playing a range of space shooter games, and gave this one a spin and it's actually a very pretty and breezy little hard-sci-fi 3d gradius-like with a little more narrative heft that I would have expected

i forgot to mess around with the game boy like i said i was going to, but i got a deathless run of snes gradius 3. that's got to count for something right

I love a good official release and buy M2 ports of shit that isn't even super interesting to me (thats how i fell in love with Gradius) but we gotta kill the lazy narcs in peoples head demanding a convenient official steam release. Realistically it will never happen for hundreds of fantastic games
tbh as much as official rereleases are good for accessibility, I also feel like a lot of people just won't play games if they don't have official versions and that's not great for culture. Everyone should be downloading random ROMs until they find that special one that breaks their brain wide open.

Playing Blades of Steel for the first time in a while and I love the wildly blatant advertising Konami did in this one with both the playable Gradius minigame and then shilling Contra and Jackal.

51. Gradius (PCE, 7h:28m:53s, 7th Jul)

First time playing this classic, and judging from this PC Engine version, I think it holds up! Power up system is as fun as ever, soundtrack is full of absolute bangers, difficulty is perfectly pitched, and stage design is excellent.

Mailcall!

I love when expensive titles get authorized reprints. I’m perfectly fine with a new boxed copy at a reasonable price. I’ve never played Snow Bros but it seems charming as heck.

I’d already purchased Gradius Origins on Steam but I’m a sucker for a physical copy with beautiful packaging.

Discovered a new (to me) #retrogaming and JP pop culture store in a shopping centre I don't visit often. Decent selection. I snagged 'Parodius da!' (GB) for AU$15.

Dude said he had no idea about the JP games, so I told him what this one was (a parody of Gradius) but he just looked at me blank. 😅

Gradius Gaiden might be my favorite shmup but Raiden has to be the one that captivates the ‘silly’ part of my brain the most like everyone dogs on V’s story but that’s just because we have lost the love for camp

. @pandapolar.bsky.social mencionou aqui a quantidade de STGs que terminam com "us" (Gradius, Darius, Parodius), então é questão de tempo até termos esse

More Famicom stuff today. One of my all-time favorite consoles. A lot of the classics today. Mario 1 and 2, Gradius, Donkey Kong Jr. Kung-Fu and Final Fantasy 3. Also some other great stuff.

well, heh heh. first of all it's pronounced darius. second, gradius is a planet. i don't think planets have cousins, but if they did, its cousin would clearly be the planet latis

Oh yeah because Gradius 3 was clearly missing on hardcore stuff 🥲

Starscream - Transformers Cyberverse (Deluxe class, 2020)

The alternate mode on this one is really cool, it's the kind of sci-fi spaceship that you'd see in a game like Gradius.
