Despite my lack of readiness I’m looking forward to cruise ships for these reasons:
It’s nice to see so many people in town enjoying this beautiful place I call home.
All those tourists bring a lot of money to my business and to the city in terms of sales tax and port fees.

Ahhh the buckwheat ski classic… it’s irreverent, it’s loud, it’s a bunch of friends and people who don’t know each other. It’s what the world needs more of. Thank you Canada for your lovely people and lovely location. The snow castle will stand for sometime.

In Skagway we have 1 electrician and he bills out at 175-220ish/hr. He is booked out for at least a month. We have plumber who comes to town when the jobs are big enough to make it worthwhile. There is one General Contractor who does residential work and he is pretty busy.

No one talks about how difficult it is to live in a tiny town with limited services. I’m plumbing and wiring an apartment I’m building myself today because I can’t hire anyone to do it.
