Opinions: Children’s books are the most delicious; watercolour is liquid colour therapy; animals and GREEN are pure joy.

Facts: Actually autistic, breast cancer beater, sopaipilla eater, my book, Gertie is Not ALL Dogs, out now, Clavis Publishing.

Breakfast in the not-exactly-warm London garden, pondering… why aren’t there more species of human? Birds have so many, some can interbreed, some can’t. But why don’t humans? I’m sure the answer is evolutionary advantage or something. Will maybe do an #ecosia search later…

I feel this is the wood pigeon equivalent of eating over the sink 😂

Snail-face exploration 😂 This little one wanted to hitch a ride… on the poor snail’s head! The tentacles were going wild with ‘what on earth is this on my head?’ vibes. (They were not related, found on our poppies and given some food to eat a little farther away.)

Art is suffering? Thoughts? I used to feel like a sham because my art isn’t full of suffering. Jonathan Jones @theguardian.com - why can’t art be joyful? (I’m not arguing Sheeran’s work is akin to Pollock’s, just that art isn’t always suffering!) www.theguardian.com/music/2025/j...

Human art and nature art. Mostly I am in awe of nature and its wondrous delicate perfection, variety and the instant calm it gives me, but sometimes human-made art does the same. That someone spent the time sorting the pebbles, then putting them together so others could enjoy it. Lovely.

The beauty and functionality of nature will never cease to amaze me. I’m still looking for a left-spiraling snail though. If you spot one, please let me know! #snails #ukwildlife #urbanwildlife #londonwildlife

Book news! This story was so interesting for me and I love the way the writer Lisa Varchol Perron managed to make a big potentially worrying topic a beautiful story and read aloud. The team at @moonandbird were so nice to work with too. Very happy!

Real ant feeds on not-real watermelon! When life art imitates other art? (Thinking The Hungry Caterpillar and the ants/fruit.) Think it was thirsty. Not sure if watercolour adds flavour? 🧐 #antslovewatermelon #ericcarle #hungrycaterpillar

Why the 20th? It’s supposedly Blue Monday, three Mondays into January when a lot of us are at our lowest. Guessing that’s because January’s pay cheque hasn’t cleared, we’ve overspent/overeaten/oversocialised/overdone it all, and there aren’t any massive celebrations in the near foreseeable future.

1/4 Well, that's unexpected! The English version of Gertie is not ALL Dogs (in Dutch and Spanish too) has sold out! Next lot will be out in Jan.

So happy people are enjoying Gertie and Sammy's story and that readers 'get it'. I was a little worried about representing autistic traits in a dog...

“What on earth is that heavenly smell? Is it more kitten food from those humans? Or delicious crunchy hedgehog kibble?” Moonlight the hedgehog using his beautiful little shiny black nose to sniff out his food. Or maybe he could smell the fox through the window. #hedgehogfoster

Spotted this VERY tame young duckling in the park, it wasn’t staying in the safety of the pond and nearly got taken by a dog as it kept waddling about peeping. We tried it with duck food but he couldn’t seem to eat it. So called the Swan Sanctuary…
