This is the lesson that liberals and progressives and Democrats absolutely refuse to learn: CHANGING THE MATERIAL CONDITIONS OF A GROUP OF VOTERS WILL NOT PREDICTABLY CHANGE HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT YOU. Refusing to accept this has walked us into disaster over and over.
I hope that I am not right, but I do not think that the GOP fucking over rural areas will result in rural areas blaming the GOP: instead they'll double-down on blaming imaginary cultural enemies and resentment/fantasy about how the cities must be worse.
