A better world is possible
It seems like a good time to repeat how thankful I am that the entire Canadian federal election process has a campaign period that’s at least 36 days and no more than 50 days.

That’s it.

With strict spending limits.

And every single time, that ends up seeming long and expensive to me.

No matter your station in life, there is astoundingly little separating you from those men in that cage behind Kristi Noem. No charges, no attorneys, no hearings, no trial. Just conjecture and brute force could be enough to justify completely dehumanizing you, too.

If you think what happened to Rumeysa Ozturk can't happen to you because you're a citizen and she's not, you are sorely mistaken. Ozturk was snatched off the street not for being a national security threat but for having a wrong opinion. If we don't put a stop to this, it's coming for all of us.

The Trump regime’s secret police continue to kidnap people across the US. Here they kidnapped a PHD Student Rumeysa Ozturk in broad daylight for publishing an article last year, critical of Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

People across the US have reportedly been tortured by the regime.

It’s no longer a question of whether we’re in a constitutional crisis. It’s now a question of whether—or to what extent—the constitution is still in effect.

When oligarchs talk of “personal liberties and free markets” they mean their own liberties to become even richer and more powerful.

When oligarchs speak of “freedom,” what they actually seek is freedom from accountability.

Know the truth.

Only 79% of Americans are literate, and 54% (astoundingly, the majority) have a literacy level below the 6th grade.
For the record, the literacy rate in Cuba (the country that has trained medical doctors for third world countries – for free - since the 1960s) is over 99%.

Netanyahu has not allowed any food, water, or fuel into Gaza in two weeks.

Now he has resumed bombing, killing hundreds of people and breaking the ceasefire that had given Gaza a chance to live again.

NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

Some want to let Musk and Trump burn it down so everyone can see them for who they are.

Some are beholden to norms and decorum, afraid to deviate from the past. So afraid, they censure their own for showing a hint of defiance.

i honestly have never seen a political leader so thoroughly destroy their credibility so quickly and, on the other side, it is abundantly clear that if anyone can claim a genuine leadership of large parts of the democratic party, it is AOC.
Folks is it good when your own party's leadership in the House is dropping "listen to the women" and MLK quotes on you while swing state members of your caucus are talking about new leadership

1. The DOGE website is garbage.

The claimed savings has no relationship to the data provided.

And the data that is provided grossly inflates the savings from each canceled contract.

So we just launched our own site — the Musk Watch DOGE Tracker — that breaks everything down.
Introducing: The Musk Watch DOGE Tracker
New tool reveals Musk has overstated verified DOGE savings by at least 92%
