A dishwasher. The other times I sit by the fire and offer them passing ghosts some coffee.

Thank you. In public and political language, "aussondern" stems from German psychiatry after WWI, describing the separation of the mentally ill, who in 1940 in Operation T4 were the first to be euthanized in driving closed vans w/ Carbon monoxide. The first experiments in mass gasification.

"Sunder" means "separating" too, both perhaps deriving from the Anglo-Saxon "sundor" (apart, for itself), later in English "asunder" (broken, apart).

(It was this last aspect that made me react to your original post re: "great word". It made me shiver. But I deleted my former reply.)

The prep. is from the 14th century, the verb "sondern" (setting apart) as the substantive form "Sonderling" (excentric, someone strange & a bit weird) are from the 16th century. www.dwds.de/wb/Sonderlin...
Note that "aussondern" was the term used to describe the selections at the ramps of Auschwitz.

The etymology of the German word says otherwise. Anyway, when used as a borrowed word into English, one can attach pretty much any meaning one wants it to have.

Wonder why it is, again, the obligation of Jews to make anyone safer. Any such calls to Muslims? Given the climate of pogrom in the vast anti-Jewish protests of New York and elsewhere, calls "to make anyone safer" sound pretty much like "hush! be quite, don't attract attention, or they come for us".

A wonderful pep talk! Well done, thank you!

Thank you for the pointers.

(I don't think that Netanyahu is guilty of any crime regarding the execution of the war in the Gaza Strip. But there is still a call for an investigation regarding the utter intelligence failing that left Israel unprepared and surprised on October 7, 2023.)

Because if that's the case, that would make any charges by the ICC moot. (Due to the principle of subsidiarity in the Rome Statute the ICC only has jurisdiction if the judiciary of the state the suspect is citizen of is incapable or unwilling to investigate on its own.)
