I remember how shallow the then new CDs of the late 1980s with their 16-bit engineered recordings sounded. No overtones to the harmonic first, a flat sound that forced recording to accentuate the pitches: the highs, the bass-lines, the beat. The sound never felt voluminous.

Over on X, Tom D'Evelyn posted that.

To me it sounds half true. Although I'm not a poetry person, I'd rather say that poetry is a way of thinking through (complex) ambiguities. Utilizing ambiguities, that is.

Don't postulate an "evil" (Hamas) or "corrupt" (PA) regime on the one hand and an "innocent" populace on the other. Just don't. Palestinians do want those regimes. They approve this war by Hamas; they don't want a two-state "solution"; they don't want disarmament of Hamas.

As a birthday gift I send you my translation of one of my favourite poems by the German poet Helmut Salzinger, "Mollberg (1)" (1993).

Between 2015 and 2025 Myanmar has been condemned 10 x by the UNGA for its treatment of the Rohingya Muslims and of other minorities. In the same period, Turkey has been condemned exactly 0 x, despite its continuous bombardment of the Kurds in Southeast Turkey, in Iraq and Syria.

I didn't know you blocked and muted me. As you say that you feel harrassed, I won't bother you anymore. I wrote a last reply on this topic because I seem to finally understand why your stances seem so strange to me. I attach it here. I wish you all the best.

Many points, thus this longer reply ↓. Sorry.

Long story short: I take these people seriously. I don't let them off the hook in some variation of "The White Man's Burden" (Kipling). This "Humanism" doesn't take people seriously, as moral agents with responsibility, and is thus racist to its core.

The announcements by France, the UK, and Canada to recognise a Palestinian state is not the result of their leaders' ignorance. Far worse, their leaders know eactly what they're doing. They just waited for an opportunity which has now been provided to them by the Gaza-ISIS.

This is a helpful tool. It displays the UN aid deliveries into Gaza since May 19. Particularly interesting is the amount of aid looted by civilians or armed forces (approx. 85% of tonnage).
