We *are* in the middle of a hostile government takeover.

Pinning this to remind myself that a bit of levity can be true, necessary, and also a bop.

Sadly, Chris Rea has passed away. This song is always in heavy rotation (my '70s soft rock playlist is a favorite), but I'm not familiar with his other work. However, the outpouring of love on social media is giving me quite the list of music to remedy that. Rest in peace. ❤️

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...

I know that horrific things happen every day of every year in some part of the world. And maybe it's the 24 hour news cycle or being online too much, but this has been an awful, awful weekend.

I love both One Battle After Another and Sinners, but if you don't think they're doing at least as much to work you over and get you to a certain emotional place as Hamnet is, I don't know what to tell you. There's no rule that it's okay to go for your adrenaline but cheating to go for your tears.

It's simple — @propublica.org workers should not be replaced by artificial intelligence. Our contract proposal specifically says that generative artificial intelligence ("GAI") should not be used to replace employees. Management struck out this entire section in their response to our proposal.

Yuck. I think this is MTG's plan. #Georgia, we can't let that happen. There should be no coming back—politically—from the reprehensible things she's said and done. If people want to forgive her as a private citizen, have at it. But she should never hold office again.

Wonder if she will throw her hat into the race for Gov of Georgia which ends next year. She could spend all of her time campaigning!! This is what I think she’s up to!!

A very happy 101st birthday to Christopher #Tolkien!

Most of what we know about Middle-earth is thanks to Christopher who posthumously edited over 20 books. He sadly passed away over five years ago, but please raise a glass, and toast Christopher's service to us all. Namárië. #BookSky
