On blue sky mainly for climate change science
Given what seems to be disappointing news from COP30 I can’t see the rate of temperature increase lowering any time soon
2025 is expected to conclude as the 3rd warmest year to have been directly measured.

This would place 2025 behind only the El Niño boosted record warmth in 2023 and 2024, and still modestly above the long-term trend.

Always amazed at global temperature ups and downs. We are relatively down at the moment but 2025 still on track for third place slot.

World’s surface temperature a little on the cool side (relatively). Still 2025 is heading for third place

What’s going on with global warming ? Where can I find a monthly update of global temperatures ?
Here of course berkeleyearth.org/september-20...
September 2025 Temperature Update - Berkeley Earth
September 2025 was the 3rd warmest September on record, and 2025 is likely to become the third warmest year on record. A La Niña transition appears imminent.

Visit this website. It’s very educative.
Keeping an eye on our planet's recent temperature trend and variability (12-month running mean). Many of the temporary peaks and dips are related to upper ocean heat anomalies in the Pacific (like ENSO).

We need to think what this may mean for the future, 20 years time, 30 years ??
August 2025 data is now available for both Antarctic sea-ice thickness/volume (zacklabe.com/antarctic-se...) and global sea-ice volume (zacklabe.com/global-sea-i...) from GIOMAS. Another monthly record low (globally)!

It seems that the lurch upwards in global temps late 2023 may have originated in the switch from a prolonged La Niña to El Niño affecting cloud cover changes @michaelemann.bsky.social @hausfath.bsky.social

My only wish would be that global temperature anomalies reference 1850 - 1900 but otherwise excellent
