Who needs to surreptitiously install GPS trackers when modern cars come with them pre-installed?

I consider this uncomfortable question in my latest for @thenvindy.com.

Is it a stunt? Sure.

Are stunts important? Ask anyone who lives in a state — including Nevada — where stuntily written yet previously ignored anti-abortion legislation magically turned on like a light switch after Dobbs.

I need more balance between the beauty of the world I'm trying to save/promote and the stark reality of todays political climate.

Which costs less:

1. A good made entirely overseas that has a single 10+% tariff applied?
2. A good made out of components that are shipped in and out of America, with each component shipment increasing the overall cost by 10+%?

We're about to nuke American manufacturing from orbit.
Great example from Mr. Beast of how insane it was for Trump to hit raw food with tariffs

Ingredients that grow abroad are getting more expensive—a Feastables bar has sugar (hit by a 10% tariff), chocolate (6-15%), cocoa butter (21%), & vanilla (41%)—and those tariffs also hit coffee, fish, etc

So our retirements are worth MORE, RIGHT?!
WELKER: The markets lost more than $6 trillion in value. Was this disruption always part of the plan?

BESSENT: We had record volume on Friday and everything is working very smoothly. So the American people can take great comfort in that.

I mean this politely but firmly:

If you think it's acceptable to surveil adult family members and there's not a damned good reason — dementia or severe health issues, for example — I do not think you are a good person and I will make it a point to treat you accordingly.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

For context, Nevada's been struggling for over 18 months to replace a COBOL-based system used by tens of thousands of state employees with a more modern financial system *that already exists* and is used by other states.

Replacing SSA with a custom solution in 6 months is beyond madness.

This wouldn't have happened if they used Teams is all I'm saying.
