Abolition Game - Current Project
@silver-guillotine.itch.io
I have a small idea what I'm doing. I'm working on a prison abolition game that engages people deeply in the policy choices that have created mass incarceration in the U.S. Emphasis on choices because there are other ways. https://silver-guillotine.itch.io

I won't even link the paywalled article, but the answer is no, criminalising homelessness will not help.

"The land was as exhausted as the workers - the land was robbed of humus and the workers of their lungs - but there were always new lands to exploit and new workers to exterminate. Comic opera dictators watched over United Feuit's interests with knives between their teeth." - Eduardo Galeano

Reading The Open Veins of Latin America right now and there is so much to unpack even now, 50 years after it was written.

"It is much more profitable to consume coffee than to produce it."

I liked this passage from a book I'm reading.

Day 3 of slow progress, now the NPC has a very simple AI which moves him when the player moves and there's an explosive barrel. Still trying to figure out how to make the barrel roll after touching it, but we'll get there. For some reason AddForce doesn't make it keep moving.

Building up those little wins! Now you can push and infect NPCs! Next will be objects and then some more complex forms of interacting. #indiegamedev

Working on a side project zombie game (as all #indiegamedevs are required by law to do) to up my skills. Set up grid-based movement for the player. Next step: interactable NPCs/objects.

I have this paper in my tabs to read eventually, but every time I see the preview I think of this guy.

Anyway, housing first is effective at helping people and cost-effective compared to incarceration and other proposed "solutions" to homelessness

Listening to The 48 Laws of Power and it's like this guy is speaking directly into my ear. Literally a pathetic book for pathetic people. A little sad it's got 181k ratings on goodreads with over 4 stars.

Baby's first Unity 3D project. Using awesome free Halloween assets from @assetquest.bsky.social

Just playing around for now, but once I figure out lighting and textures, there's no stopping me.

Thanks for 450+ followers! I hope to have some more progress on the game to show by this weekend (and maybe a little Halloween thing), but until then I'll try this out. I've been into folk punk and political songs recently, so for every like I'll post one of those.
