the only good thing about genAI is that it got me to really love seeing bad art, because I know a person put in time and effort, made themselves vulnerable by showing it to others, and is trying to improve. I value that more than anything now

If you ever feel unsure about your artistic journey, take an old artwork of yours and draw it again. Every few years, draw that same artwork and make it something new.

This fanart of Eloise from "Animal Crossing" dates back to 2018 and my latest attempt is this year, 2025!

My first rendition of Eloise the yellow elephant from "Animal Crossing" originating in 2018. The art style replicates the tiny cute anime style known as "chibi". Since this was before the release of "New Horizons", she has her yellow and white striped shirt but stylized. I loved the outfit so much I kept redrawing it ever since. Second rendition of Eloise in 2021. She keeps the original chibi style of 2018. Although this is AFTER the release of "Animal Crossing: New Horizons", I generally prefer the older outfits of villagers. However, I won't deny that her NH art makes her look gorgeous in that dress! Third rendition of Eloise in 2023. This time, I leveled up my strategy and drew her with the full body style. As a fat person myself, I ironically struggle with drawing chub properly. This was one of my first genuine attempts. Since the release of the HHP DLC describes her as a reader, I thought she'd look cool dual wielding a book alongside her classic hand fan. This year, in 2025, I wanted to really focus on how my line art and shading techniques have changed. Ever since I started watching a famous artist practice the strategy of "thick lines on the outside, thin lines on the inside" -- Get a cookie if you recognize that quote -- I can see a dramatic improvement of how professional they look now. Maybe in 2-3 years, the difference will be even greater!
