We went to Pointe Gatineau, Lac Ley and Kiweki Point. It was amazing

And sometimes they are just kittens because cats can get pregnant very young. That was the case with Pandora (rear). Her four kittens were adopted by friends and I took her. Mambo (left) probably wandered away from her barn home, and Milo is a true shelter cat with no back story.

Did you know that cars on the Kitchisippi Mikan had/have cement barriers and strong metal pins so cars don’t hit each other when forced into a mere two lanes during construction? If only people outside of cars got the same consideration.

I became a lifeguard and swim instructor as my retirement project. I especially love teaching adults who recently moved to Canada, who never had a chance to learn as kids and want to keep their families safe around the water

This is a pretty useless piece of cycling infrastructure in Vanier, but the construction signs that have been there for over a week (there is no construction anywhere within several blocks) just adds insult to injury. #ottbike

This is one of my favourite responses to this argument. I am not at all threatened by competing against trans women in the pool. I watched the Worlds last week and every swimmer is at least twice as fast as me (even more so in butterfly) despite my hard work at practice every week.

Got put for my first group ride of the year (it has been a tough year). It was great to connect with people, even though I may regret it in the morning. Loved the Berner who wanted to join the fun.

Finished my pedal poll for this year. I did the same spot last year and this felt worse! Saw many cyclists deke to the back streets parallel to where I was counting, probably to avoid car traffic. Appropriate that a car nearly backed into my chair near the end. #ottbike

@neilsara.bsky.social have you been to a Charge game? The arena has been packed all season and people are loving the playoffs. If Lansdowne 2.0 goes through with a smaller arena, I hope the Charge gets a bigger venue elsewhere. Fans are hardcore!

My view at the National Arts Centre tonight is pretty sweet. Two bunnies! I hope the ballet is equally good.

Maybe @fakehistoryhunt.bsky.social can provide more context as that’s where I found the pattern.

Went to my independent yarn store (Wool Tyme in Ottawa), bought five skeins of Canadian Briggs & Little so I can start knitting two Canadian toques with maple leaves and one patterned after the British/Canadian Air Force logo from WWII that could get you arrested in The Netherlands then. #ElbowsUp

This about sums up how a lot of us are feeling:

Agreed! I spent over an hour late last night clearing berms along Beechwood, plus a large area filled in by a street plough after the sidewalk plough had been by. I also cleared a crosswalk, bus stop and a path to two beg buttons. Still not accessible but I did my best. Street was almost bare.

Late last night on Beechwood. I spent over an hour clearing berms, long sections filled by ploughs, the bus stop, crosswalk and beg buttons. Still not accessible, but at least an able-bodied going single file might not fall.

I just spent an hour clearing sidewalk berms, the bus stop, crosswalk and beg buttons near my house in a “rich” neighbourhood. Sidewalks had been ploughed, then filled in by street ploughs. The roads are bare. Don’t give #Autowa any credit at all.

Spent an hour in Ottawa clearing snow berms off sidewalk intersections, the bus stop, a crosswalk, access to two beg buttons and several sections where the street plough had filled in the sidewalk after it had been cleared. An able-bodied person going single file can navigate the sidewalks now.

I’m actually a little jealous. This is what the Montfort is showing right now. Several other Ottawa hospitals don’t post such info at all.

Screw you DJT. skating at the Governor General’s felt like the most Canadian thing I could do today. With bonus showcase of Inuit sport. He hit that little ball with his food (as did the woman in sealskin pants).

That shoe and skate inspired me to build two pairs of bone skates and experiment with different ways of propelling myself in different ice conditions. This was a trial a few years ago.

On my way home from A Salesman in China at the NAC. This is the view while waiting for my bus. It’s not nearly as amazing as the play was, but still pretty sweet.

I will be wearing my pink pussy hat and knitting some Bernie Sanders mitts for the occasion, even though I have no intention of watching.

I have wanted to bake a Queen Elizabeth Cake for weeks.
I was sure I would have lots of recipes in my collection of vintage Canadian cookbooks but I only came across one recipe, published by Ottawa Good Companions seniors’ centre for their 30th anniversary in 1985.
