Thanks for posting this information. That's a unique kiln design with its subterranean circular access tunnel. Analogous to natural cavern bat habitat.

I've never thought about bats residing in our lime kiln but now I'm compelled to have a closer look in the nooks and crannies.

This critter has been roaming our close area for a couple of months.
Today, Rugby (Corgi) caught sight of it on our driveway and laid chase.
They were both gone into the brush without a sound. Normally, he barks his head off at intruders...deer, turkeys.
A bit alarming, actually.
Relief, he's back

Heh,
This reminded my of my pic from several years ago outside my window. This praying mantis was hanging around the feeder for about 3 days. Waiting for ants or bees? No.
Apparently, there are accounts of praying mantises attacking hummers.

Who knew?

Here's my grandson's [6yo] collection of stones from today's scouting around the house.
I showed him the stone vending machine. He thinks it is very cool. [Hell, I think it is very cool!]
He wants to go there to get some stones out. I said, maybe later today.
🤣

I have to share a special moment this morning...
Upon entering the house of my neighbor friend, he asked to leave the doors open due to a kestrel flying in and having difficulty escaping.
I finally just grabbed it and launched it outside.
Zoom in to see its face.

I've got something here that will take care of your infestation.

Are you going to make some like these in this kiln?

Must be a local name. The British Geology Survey map app ascribes the various sedimentary units in your area to the Alston Formation of Carboniferous age.

I just did the "Blue John Cavern" tour last week to see the cavern system developed in the fossiliferous limestone. Remnants of fluorite mineralization are visible in situ on the walls of the mine. The geology is fascinating.

The ground perspective from great distance can be deceiving.

If that was your view looking south at 16:37, this was what you may have seen.
British Airways, London to Glasgow at 35,000 ft. (Red). Passing by Loganair, Dundee to London at 21,000.
Adequate elevation separation.

The water flows are low. Waterfalls are not remarkable.

A drainage from another hanging valley is reduced to a trickle and frozen.

Yosemite Valley is perfect at this time of year. Fewer visitors.

Glacial features in your face. Bridalviel Creek cascades from a hanging valley.

The Merced River has cut into a combination of ground moraine and glacial outwash.

Light snow overnight. Can't wait to see the valley today!

I don't know if there is a link btw rocks and fungi, but there certainly is between rotting stumps and mushrooms.
Here is a cluster anchored to a stump of alder or oak.
iNaturalist likes Oyster Musbroom (G. Pleurotus) as the ID.
Individual shrooms are 6 to 8 in dia. Impressive display.

No path. Westport was a whaling town (at the port) and an agricultural community with dairy farms common. The stone walls went all the way from this road to the river (background). This field may have had cattle originally. Now, these are high end river view properties. Haven't seen others.

For example, the wildfire in my neighborhood in 2021 revealed the details of a ca1903 lime manufacturing plant/lime kiln. Thousands of artifacts. Archaeologists' dream.

Maybe not Cumbria nor even England, but New England. A "turnstile" in a wall along Drift Road in Westport, Mass.
